Cyber Gomoku has an "online ranked match" where you can compete against other players. Rank points will increase or decrease depending on the outcome of the match, and the cumulative points will determine the rank from C to S. This page officially explains the rank and point system implemented in the actual game.
1. Rank class and required points
Your rank will be determined automatically based on your points. Players playing ranked matches for the first time will start from C rank.
| rank | Required points | Guideline |
|---|---|---|
| S rank | 5000pt or more | Top class cyber player. A fierce fighter who knows how to use stealth and bombs. |
| A rank | 2500pt〜4999pt | Advanced. In addition to the basic skills of Gomoku, this layer also uses advanced bluffs and psychological warfare. |
| B rank | 1000pt〜2499pt | Intermediate. A level that has mastered the basic usage of cyber items and is able to fight stably. |
| C rank | 0pt〜999pt | Beginner (starting rank). First of all, let's strengthen the basics and aim for B rank. |
2. Point increase/decrease rules
When a winner is determined in a ranked match, points will be increased or decreased according to your current rank band. The design is such that the higher you go in the rank, the more points you get from winning, but the more points you lose from losing.
| current rank | When winning | At the time of defeat |
|---|---|---|
| C rank | +40pt | -10pt |
| B rank | +50pt | -25pt |
| A rank | +60pt | -40pt |
| S rank | +80pt | -100pt |
- In case of a draw: Points do not increase or decrease.
- Lower limit of points: It will never go below 0pt.
- Regarding demotion: Your rank is always calculated from the points you have, so if you continue to lose and your points fall below the standard, your rank will drop. In particular, the S rank loses a large number of points (-100 points) when defeated, and it becomes a challenge to maintain this level.
Reason for this design
We keep C-rank losses to just -10pt, so that you don't get into a situation where your rank will melt if you lose when you first start. On the other hand, in the upper ranks, we increase the number of points conceded, creating a balance that allows only players with a win rate of over 50% to settle in the upper ranks. This is an asymmetric point design for each rank band, in order to balance the "momentum of promotion" and the "weight of higher rank".
3. Independent rate management for each mode
Cyber Gomoku has ``Normal Mode'' without items and ``Cyber Mode'' with items. Rank points, rank, and number of wins and losses are recorded completely independently in these two modes.
This is because pure Gomoku ability and mutual reading ability that includes items are two different skills. For example, ``Normal is rank A, but cyber is rank B.'' Your area of expertise is directly reflected in your rank. In either mode, if you are logged in with a Google account, your achievements will be carried over to multiple devices.
4. Behind the scenes of the matching system
We utilize Firebase's Realtime Database and Firestore as the backend for online matching. When you select "Online Battle", we first search for players waiting in the same rank range, If it is not found, gradually expand the search range (rank tolerance). This is a system to balance the stress of waiting for long periods of time and matching with too large a difference in ability.
While waiting for matching, you can play in CPU battles (EASY/NORMAL/HARD) or in exhibitions where you can play with friends on the same screen. For practice while waiting for a time when you can easily find your opponent, Strategy Guide Please also take advantage of this CPU practice method.
